You should stick with it. First season is brilliant. The second is trash.

Don't Die: The Man Who Wants To Live Forever - I think this whole story is nothing more than a fine example of someone with too much money and too much time on their hands.

Really enjoyed The Perfect Couple, a series about a murder in Nantucket, starring Nicole Kidman. Some gorgeous scenery, and the acting leaned in to some of the more ‘for television’ elements of the plot.

It also has the actress who played Marge with such skill (emphasising how entitled and terrible Marge is, to the extent I felt she almost deserved all her trials), in last years adaption of The Talented Mr Ripley.

La Palma, a series about an island in the canaries, about an impending earthquake and tsunami. Have watched one episode seems good.

The only good thing is that it is only 4 episodes long.

Yeah I thought the first episode was setting up the action, but it was slow and dragged out, will watch the other 2 though.

It's not too bad if you like laughable end of the world disaster movies. Just don't try to take it seriously.

I really do, so thanks to the two of you for the tip. I’ll watch that.

Shows I have watched over the last couple of weeks:-

    Squid Game 2
As I expected it was nowhere near as good as series 1 was. If there is going to be one more series before it finishes for good then I will watch it just to see what happens, but if not then I probably wouldn't bother with it again.

    La Palma
Drama about a volcano erupting causing a tsunami. It was OK.

    The Six Triple Eight
Absolutely loved this true story about a platoon of black American women who sorted out the backlog of post caused during WW2. I think this was the most favourite thing I watched over Christmas apart from Gavin and Stacey.

    Harlan Coben's Missing You
New psychological drama. It was OK, a bit predictable. Best thing for me in it was Richard Armitage 😍

I watched that as well. Bryan Johnson has a YouTube channel documenting everything he does (https://youtube.com/@bryanjohnson?si=5FR5TtMdwVQSHgzi ), and websites (https://protocol.bryanjohnson.com/ ) (https://blueprint.bryanjohnson.com/ ). While his goal is admirable, the means he goes about to achieve these goals comes across as cultish and scammy.

Yes, Dakota Fanning. She was fine in TPC but exceptional in TTMR.

Imagine looking as good as that though, and not even being the best looking actress in your family. It reminds me of the story about Ringo Starr. John Lennon was asked if Ringo Starr was the best drummer in the world and replied, "He's not even the best drummer in The Beatles." So the story goes...

    Avicii I'm Tim

Brilliant and emotional documentary of electronic DJ music superstar, Tim Avicii. A truly humble but captivating human being.

Missing You - I was quite disappointed, i've enjoyed the other Harlan Coben adaptations but this one felt rushed and crammed into around 3.5hrs. It was an easy watch, but quite weak in comparison to the others.

I watched the first episode last night, I was very disappointed, I have enjoyed all the previous ones and was really looking forward to this as I was the others. I think the actress who plays the main lead (police officer) from slow horses is a great actress and very likeable, but the show never really got going for me, though there was a reveal at the end of the episode that you get in Harlem's dramas.

I know there are always lots of sub plots going on but I've no idea who the guy running away and tied up in the farm is.

I noticed there are only 5 episodes aren't there usually 8 ? Maybe a good thing for this one ?

Finished Missing You last night. Was very disappointed with it, felt it is probably the worst one of the Harlan Coben dramas so far.

I just find his series too samey with the same type of people having the same "secret from the past" to deal with so it's a no from me.

You may as well ask ChatGPT to generate a Harlan Coben script. It would probably be about a successful doctor or lawyer whose life is turned upside down when someone from their past make a surprise appearance and makes them question which of their successful friends they can trust.

I watched the first episode but I don't know if I'll bother to watch the rest. I used to enjoy Harlen Corban tv shows, but they now seem a bit stale. I also don't know why Richard Armitage has been in 4 different Harlan Coban shows. Surely there are other actors to choose from.

Truly awful, the plot and the acting…. Atrocious.

lol I agree that it’s now basically the same theme recycled. With the same edgy music.

And all the stupid clichés! …

Big Boss (Stagger) being made to look like the baddie but will surely end up the hero who is covering up something the father did.

    She confronts

the boss when she learns he was involved.

Why do they never investigate them surreptitiously? “I think they’re the killer, I’ll just go, weaponless, and confront them.”

    Currently watching Departure.

Can't make my mind up if its good or bad, even though I'm on episode 3. Will carry on watching for now.

Only watched two episodes of Missing You and haven't really felt drawn to go back and watch the rest. Am sure I will at some point but there's other stuff worth watching

I really enjoyed this. Especially as it was based on a true story. Prompted me to rewatch Hidden Figures.
Shocking the prejudice that was still ingrained at this time.

We did the same - although I hadn't seen Hidden Figures before. Found it a bit "Disneyfied Civil Rights" in that all the black people were individuals, and nearly all the white people were amalgums of roles, presumably so the nasty white people couldn't be identified.

The Six Triple Eight was excellent.

Warched Carry On - which was fun, but ludicrous.

My husband asked me what I would have done if I'd been in that situation. I said I wouldn't have recognised it as an ear piece, so shoved it in the lost property and treated the text messages as spam.

When I asked H the same question, he said he would have sacrificed me for the greater good. We are still speaking. Just . . . What are you watching on Netflix? - Page 602 (22)

It's a good laugh but has more plot holes than anything I've ever seen.

    This summarises it well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNEl_Ubg23E

Finished Missing You, it was OK, not terrible not brilliant. A good twist at the end which i didn't guess and quite often do.

Probably my least favourite of the British Harlem Coben dramas but it passed a few hours.
